Summit Brew Path Holiday Knock-Out Tour Hosted by Life Is Good No Matter What on Dec. 14

Complete your Summit Brew Path passport just in time to meet the December 15 deadline while supporting the mission of Life is Good No Matter What. Guests will meet at a central location (parking garage in downtown Akron, Ohio) and celebrate life today with tastings, give-a-ways, making new friends, and enjoying every stop along the way.

Guests will be transported to each of the 22 Official Brew Path stops to receive a free 2-ounce sample in their comemorative glass (44 ounces total!), stamp their passport and make any additional purchases to commemorate their experience. Each of the 22 stops will conclude after 20 minutes, for a total of 7.5 hours of craft beer adventure.

Tickets are $100 donation each with a limit of 50, first-come, first-served. Each ticket includes: charter transportation to all official brewery stops, commemorative Life is Good No Matter What 2-ounce tasting glass, 64-ounce stainless steel growler, a 2-ounce sample at each of the 22 breweries (44 ounces total!), and an official Summit Brew Path completion form. All paid guests will receive detailed information regarding parking, transportation, logistics and stuff that is fun. All proceeds support the mission of Life is Good No Matter What, a 501(C)-3 Non-Profit Organization.

KIKO Company and Young's Auction Service Join Forces

KIKO Company, Ohio’s leading auctioneers, realtors and asset advisors, have teamed up with Akron-based Young’s Auction Service to deliver the most professional real estate and auction services in all of northeast Ohio. Founded in 2007 by Bob Young and his wife Tina, Young’s Auction Service is the Akron area’s prominent full-service auction company specializing in real estate, antiques/collectibles, firearms and weekly consignment auctions.   Young will be a licensed auctioneer and realtor with KIKO serving the Akron Metro area, including west to Medina/Wadsworth, south to Green/Barberton and north to Hudson/Cuyahoga Falls. He will focus on residential real estate, farms & land, commercial properties and quality collectibles. Young is also a Federal Firearms Licensee, helping clients liquidate firearms safely, legally and effectively.   Young and his team will continue to operate Young’s Auction Center, a facility located in Akron, Ohio that hosts quality consignment auctions every Friday at 6:00 p.m.

Small Business Outreach Meeting on Trade Agreements with Japan, European Union, and United Kingdom on Mar. 26

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy is interested in receiving feedback from small businesses and their representatives regarding their views on trade agreements being negotiated with Japan, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, and their experience doing business in these markets. The Office of Advocacy is tasked with producing a report to Congress evaluating the economic impacts of these trade agreements in negotiations regarding small businesses, particularly in the services, manufacturing, and agriculture sectors, as well as highlighting small business priorities, opportunities, and challenges. Advocacy is conducting outreach to small businesses across the U.S. to better understand important small business concerns regarding trade with these markets and how trade agreements would impact small businesses.

The Karcher Group Wins Awards for Work with Local Nonprofits

The Karcher Group (TKG), a full-service marketing agency, received two awards in the 2019 American Advertising Awards, a competition conducted by the American Advertising Federation – Akron (AAF – Akron). Commonly known as the ADDYs, the event recognizes the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising. TKG received awards at the district level, which included entries from Akron, Canton and surrounding areas, and are now eligible to compete at the national level. TKG received a gold award in the category of Public Service Online/ Interactive Website for its work on StarkHelpCentral.com. Working alongside Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery (StarkMHAR), the team created a brand identity and a responsive, user-friendly web experience to resonate with Stark County teens, teachers, parents and caseworkers. TKG also won a silver award in the same category for its work on the United Way of Greater Stark County website. The Karcher Group crafted new messaging to help tell the United Way story, developed a multi-channel marketing strategy to get them noticed online and built their new website to roll out their updated digital identity.

2nd Annual CARE Coalition NEO Conference on Mar. 14

Keynote speaker will be Bill Benjamin, international expert on Emotional Intelligence and partner at the Institute for Health and Human Potential. Bill will speak on Using Emotional Intelligence in the Healthcare Professions. We will also welcome Dr. Eric Coleman of the Care Transitions Institute back to speak about caregivers using the principles of Emotional Intelligence. Dr. Ann DiFrangia will share updates on her work with the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center and how emotional intelligence can be used to improve outcomes. And...Of Course... No CARE Coalition event would be complete without a signature panel discussion. Continuing education credits for LSW/LISW, RN (via reciprocity), PC/PCC, and LNHA are available.

AAF-Akron Presents "ADDY Cadabra! 2019 American Advertising Awards on Feb. 22

Brace yourself for oddities, mysteries and astounding acts of advertising illusion! AAF-Akron holds its annual American Advertising Awards (locally known as the Akron-Canton ADDYs) at The Akron Civic Theatre on Friday, February 22, 2019. The prestigious American Advertising Awards event is a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by AAF. It honors creative excellence and cultivates the highest standards in the industry. With entries from Akron, Canton and surrounding areas, it is the largest advertising and marketing event in the area.

This year’s theme is ADDY Cadabra and is hosted by Eric Mansfield. The reception, beginning at 5:00 pm, includes restaurant tasting stations, a gallery of creative and cash bar.
