Policy Priorities

The Public Policy Agenda aligns regional, state, and federal priorities that guides the GAC’s advocacy efforts relevant to important policy issues. The GAC’s Policy Priorities represent key legislative issues that are relevant to ongoing activities and critical to our region’s economic growth and success. These priorities are a short-term representation of our broader goals and objectives found within the GAC’s Public Policy Agenda. Action on these priorities includes (but is not limited to) direct lobbying, providing public testimony, send targeted communications and interacting with media.

Policy Priorities

Access to Policy Makers

The Government Advocacy Series bring together business leaders, elected officials, policy experts and other thought leaders to discuss key policy issues. The topics covered in the series will address relevant policy issues facing the business community. During the D.C. Fly-In, attendees will get to participate in a wide range of discussions with members of northeast Ohio’s congressional delegation, federal agencies, D.C. insiders and other key staff within the federal government.

The Candidates Conference and Leadership Reception enables attendees to connect with key stakeholders and elected officials. Throughout the year, we also take members to Columbus to interact with elected officials and advocate for key business legislation in Ohio’s capitol.

To stay up to date on the most relevant activities related to government, policy and regulation, enroll in our advocacy updates. They provide key information in a timely and consistent manner and often include invitations or recaps to unique engagement opportunities reserved for GAC members.

Voting Information

Voting is a right and the ultimate expression of our freedom. As the voice of the business community, the Greater Akron Chamber encourages our members to promote the importance of voting to their employees and to educate them on the ballot issues. Visit your county Board of Elections website for information on how to register to vote, vote early, or find your polling location.
