Areas of Focus
Developing and Strengthening Networks
Increase access to other female leaders, gain insights from CEOs of top companies in the region and strengthen relationships with other women.
The State of Women in the Workplace
In this data-driven program, leading experts from McKinsey & Company will take us on a top-down journey—starting with the latest national and Ohio-specific workforce trends, then narrowing the focus to the persistent gender leadership gap and what it can mean for the competitiveness of companies now and in the future.
Women’s Network Leadership Dialogue Series
The Women’s Network Leadership Dialogue Series is designed to create access, relationships, and insight among attendees. Through a set of regular events featuring a deep dive dialogue with high-profile female leaders, attendees will learn more about the leader and her path to leadership; engage in dialogue about pertinent economic development or other topics; and also have the opportunity to meet and interact with the leader and the other female professionals and leaders in attendance.
Authentic Leadership: Leading With Strength
A program of the Women’s Network Leadership Institute, Leading with Strength is a two-session intensive experience, specifically for women. Participants will gain knowledge of and insight into their own unique strengths, learn strategies to leverage these strengths, and strengthen their network and enhance their positioning as leaders in the community.
Building the Pipeline of Female Leadership
Increase the support and impact of female professionals in the workplace and streamline opportunities to enhance visibility of women in companies and in the community.
Women’s Board Leadership Initiative
The Women’s Board Leadership Initiative is a regional effort designed to increase the visibility of women leaders, strengthen the pipeline of female leadership, and create greater access to board service opportunities across Greater Akron.
The initiative features a Board Leadership Directory of women in Greater Akron who are actively seeking to lend their expertise and serve. Whether you're looking to bring fresh perspectives to your board or know a leader ready to make an impact, this resource is here to help connect and elevate the leaders ready to serve in this role.
Advancing Research and Advocacy
Create awareness around the importance of women in leadership in companies and in the community and illustrate the current landscape of female leadership in companies and in the community.
The Gender Equity and Women’s Leadership Study
WNLI’s first research piece, The Gender Equity and Women’s Leadership Study (2018), told the story of a region that lags in female leadership in the executive suite and the Board rooms of for-profit and not-for-profit. When the data is analyzed to include women of color, the numbers are even worse. Our research aims to illustrate the gaps, identify areas of excellence, and help companies and leaders understand the importance of being intentional about creating a pipeline of female leadership at all levels of their organization.
Supporting the Growth of Businesses
Advance the growth and success of business owners in our region through access to resources, connections, and opportunities.
PeerSpectives
Female business owners have the opportunity to participate in a business owner roundtable (PeerSpectives) alongside other business owners. These facilitated dialogues take place periodically over the course of the year and all information shared is confidential. Together, the cohort discusses challenges, opportunities, shares best practices and builds a network for ongoing support and engagement as business owners.
Advancing Growth and Development
Leverage the strengths of female leaders to drive impact and influence in the workplace and in the community.
