SummaCare and the Greater Akron Chamber have partnered to offer Northeast Ohio small businesses a multiple employer welfare arrangement (MEWA). The Chamber Health Benefits Plan is a self-funded health benefits option that allows employers with 50 employees or fewer to join together to share in the healthcare costs of their employees. Being part of a larger, self-funded pool, employers can receive potential savings and have financial protection against unexpected claims costs.

The Chamber Health Benefits Plan is a self-funded health benefits option that allows employers with 50 employees or fewer to join together to share in the healthcare costs of their employees. Being part of a larger, self-funded pool, employers can receive potential savings and have financial protection against unexpected claims costs.
Choosing the Right Plan
Employers choose the right plan for them by selecting among 18 benefit plans, including PPO and HSA-compatible plans featuring pharmacy coverage and four SummaCare networks, including The Preferred Choice Network which is a high quality, cost-competitive network comprised of Summa Health, Cleveland Clinic, including Cleveland Clinic Akron General, and Akron Children’s Hospital.
Your company must be within the 21-county service area, which includes Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Ottawa, Portage, Sandusky, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties in Ohio.
Your company must be within the 21-county service area, which includes Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Ottawa, Portage, Sandusky, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties in Ohio.

Value-added services such as SummaCare's health and wellness programs, online pharmacy and benefit information, Telemedicine and access to our 24-Hour Nurse Line are always included. Member companies with 51+ eligible employees can begin exploring plan options today.

Medical Mutual Plan
Medical Mutual and the Greater Akron Chamber have partnered to offer affordable health insurance to members. Medical Mutual offers a wide variety of flexible and affordable plans to members with 51 to 500 eligible employees. These plans have access to one of the largest provider networks in Ohio, including Akron General Medical Center and Summa Health System. Chamber members enrolled in the health plan may receive significant financial savings including a 1.4% tax savings with their Medical Mutual plan.
Medical Mutual also offers prescription drug benefits, consumer-driven health plan products and access to wellness programs through WorkSpring Wellness. WorkSpring Wellness is designed exclusively to access Medical Mutual’s high quality health management programs to provide the tools, resources and support to help you achieve better health. Chamber members can also receive a 10% discount on employee mental health resources through their partnership with ESI EAP.
