Event: Akron RubberDucks Features 12:05 p.m. Game

Event: Nation's Baseball 2015 Akron-Canton, Ohio Championship Tournament


The annual Nation’s Baseball 2015 Ohio State Championship Tournament will be held on the weekend of June 18-21, 2015, in the Akron/Canton, Ohio area.  Every year over 70 teams of all age groups enter the tournament causing it to be one of the most coveted and popular tournaments in Ohio.

Event: Sandlot League Championship Tournament


The first annual Stark Summit Sandlot Baseball League 2015 Championship Tournament is July 6-12, 2015. Seventy-five to 125 teams of six age groups will enter the tournament.

Event: The EMPOWER! Women’s Entrepreneurship Mastery Program Workshops


The EMPOWER! Women’s Entrepreneurship Mastery Program will offer two workshops in May and June. On Thurs., May 28, "Show Me the Money" will discuss a variety of funding options such as microloans, crowdfunding, venture and angel funds. On Thurs., June 4, community partners and other entrepreneurs will offer guidance on “Establishing Initial Business Systems” such as proper legal structure, marketing, financial systems and more. Catholic Charities Community Services of Summit County's 20th annual golf outing will be Friday, June 12, at Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown. All Proceeds benefit Catholic Charities programs for people with developmental disabilities in Summit County. Pro Football Hall of Fame Asks for Your Vote!


The Pro Football Hall of Fame has advanced in the Cleveland.com contest for Ohio’s Top Tourist Attraction. Voting began yesterday to determine which of the 10 final attractions will win!   So, please rally to earn the Pro Football Hall of Fame the distinction as Ohio’s  best tourist attraction that we know we are!   Here is the link for the voting:

Event: Women's Network Offering Women's Entrepreneurship Program


The Women’s Network of NE Ohio has developed the “EMPOWER! Women’s Entrepreneurship Mastery Program” to help women achieve their dreams of becoming successful business owners. The 3-part program will cover the following topics: starting a business, growing a business, and managing operations and risk. Sessions will be led by experienced women entrepreneurs and other community business experts. Deadline for Series One is Thursday, April 30, 2015. Event: County Councilwoman Paula Prentice to Host 2nd Annual Let's Move Summit County Health Walk in Downtown Akron


On Saturday, April 25, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Summit County Council Member Paula Prentice (District 8) will host the 2nd Annual “Let’s Move Summit County!” Health Walk in downtown Akron.  Open to the public, walkers will follow a 2.7 mile route that begins and ends at Canal Park, home of the Akron RubberDucks.  There is an $8 registration fee ($10 after April 13th) for this event which includes a ticket to the RubberDucks baseball game at 2 p.m. vs. the Bowie Baysox.  In addition, the first 500 registered walkers will receive a drawstring sportpack “Goodie Bag” for the walk, a route map card that can be validated for a prize drawing and a wristband that will give them FREE admission to the Akron Art Museum.  The first 1,000 fans in attendance at the game will also receive Webster mascot “bobbleheads” from the Akron RubberDucks.  Summit County employees can earn 350 Vitality points for participating.  Registration/Check-in begins at 10 a.m. and the walk will start at 11 a.m.

Experience the reborn downtown Kent, learn how to create walkable, bikeable communities, and delve into topics including clean water, local food, outdoor space, and creating socially responsible businesses. Join us for pre-conference workshops and activities on April 13, and the main event on April 14, in downtown Kent.
