Camp Next: Empower Young People

Camp Next is an event by Electric Impulse Communications meant to empower our young people. Our young people are going to have more opportunities to be visible and change the world than any other generation has ever had. These young people are our future. They need to be prepared to speak when the spotlight of life is on them.

When: Sunday August 15th from 12:30pm – 4:00pm
Location: Electric Impulse Office
Cost: $69 for first person, $59 for each additional person
Early Bird: $25 Off if you reserve your seat by June 7th

Engaging experienced speakers will address:
  • Answer “why you”: why should we select you or listen to you?
    How to “Network” tips
  • Quickly prepare comments so you don’t miss the moment
  • Tips for financial literacy starting early
  • Reduce anxiety that can get in the way of your message
  • Reduce or eliminate saying to yourself “I should have said…” Table etiquette so you can focus on your message not which fork to use How to be heard in small or large group scenarios
  • Dress to keep the focus on your message
  • Learn from those just ahead of you in school or the workplace
The speakers may change due to scheduling but are currently as follows:
  • Rachel Day - Self esteem and confidence

  • Paul Cincotta - Restaurant and table etiquette

Hale Farm & Village Presents Sow & Grow Farm Festival and Plant Sale on Jun. 8 & 9

Experience the past and present farming lifestyle of draft horse demonstrations, oxen talks, wheel plowing gardens, beekeeping and exploring the gardens on property maintained by the Great Lakes Brewing Company and the Bath Gamma Garden Club. The festival also features chicken keeping talks, sheep shearing, fiber dyeing and much more! June 8 and 9, 10 am – 5 pm.  The Citizen’s of Hale auxiliary group will be holding their annual Plant Sale. Special historic and heirloom annuals, perennials and herbs will be offered  Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 3 – 12 years of age, and free for members.

5th Annual Greater Akron Summit Business Conference & Expo on May 20 & 22

The Greater Summit Business Conference & Expo is a shared initiative by the County of Summit and City of Akron, and many others.  The event brings together small business, minority business enterprises, and corporations from across the State of Ohio to engage with corporations for the purpose of growth and development.

Attendees will be able to capitalize on numerous benefits from attending this event including workshops, the business-to-business trade show, and networking. Certified small businesses may also be eligible for contract opportunities provided by corporations as well as city and state agencies.

The Pitch Competition provides entrepreneurs and small business owners an opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of successful corporate leaders and business owners. The panelists will evaluate the participants business plan, ideas, and goals. The panelists will then make recommendations and assist where can.

Hale Farm & Village Presents Preservation Workshop: Wood Windows 101 on Mar. 30

Replacement windows aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. In fact, a historic wood window will last many times longer than its modern replacement if maintained properly over time. Robert Brookover, craftsman and owner of the Cohee Preservation Company, will demonstrate and discuss the many facets of keeping your historic wood windows in working order for decades to come. Please remember to bring your lunch pail.
