Volunteers Needed!

The SUPPORT Hotline of Portage Path Behavioral Health is a 24/7 crisis intervention hotline and part of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network.  We respond to calls from people experiencing all levels of crisis, including suicidal thoughts and intentions.  In addition to the application, an interview, background check and references are required to assess for a good fit with our program and our specific point of contact with people in crisis.  Please note that our 24/7 hotline requires that volunteers have scheduling flexibility including evening/night/weekend shifts.

The mandatory training program prepares volunteers to respond to the most challenging of calls with confidence.  Training is considered a part of the interview process.  We respect your right to decide that the SUPPORT Hotline might not be the ideal placement for you and we ask that you respect our right to make the same determination.
For community volunteers, the classroom training requirement is about 50 hours and the service commitment is 60 shifts over 12 months (5 shifts/month with at least one scheduled on a weekend).

If you would like to go forward, return this application by mail to:  Hotline Coordinator, Portage Path Emergency Services, 10 Penfield Ave., Akron, OH  44310; by email to: [email protected] or by fax to: (330) 253-6810.
