2020 Annual Meeting FAQs

Why is the Annual Meeting being postponed?
There are efforts underway nationally and globally to alter business practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Earlier this week, cases were identified in Ohio, which has heightened conversation about the possibility of local “community spread”. We have determined that bringing together more than 800 community leaders, at this time, is not prudent.

Will the Annual Meeting be rescheduled for later this year? If so, when?
Yes, the GAC’s Annual Meeting will be rescheduled for later this year. The exact date and details of this event are still in development.

What will happen to the sponsorships and registrations?
All sponsorships and registrations will be honored at the rescheduled event. Sponsors will receive the maximum exposure and benefits listed for each level. There will also be opportunities for companies and individuals to sponsor and/or purchase tickets as details of the rescheduled event are announced.

Will I be able to change the names of the attendees at my table?
Yes. Once a new date has been set, you will be able to update any attendee names as needed.

My company donated a product or service to the silent auction.  Where will my donation go now?
We are very appreciative of all donations for the silent auction.  The silent auction will be a component of the rescheduled event at which point we will give your company recognition for the support. If your silent auction donation is time sensitive (for example, it includes tickets for a specific date), we will be reaching out to you to discuss alternative options, should the rescheduled event run past the date of your donated item.

Who can I contact for more information?
For any additional questions, please contact Sarah Vojtek, Director of Member Services, at [email protected]

For 113 years, the Greater Akron Chamber's Annual Meeting has been one of the most popular gatherings of business and community leaders. Each year, decision-makers from both the private and public sectors convene to commemorate the many successes of the past year, share plans for the future and enjoy excellent company and camaraderie.

Additionally, the Greater Akron Chamber will honor Roger T. Read with the H. Peter Burg Award. The Greater Akron Chamber created the H. Peter Burg Award as a way to recognize a local business leader who has worked to enhance local and regional economic and community development.
