Join in celebrating Don Plusquellic’s 42 years of dedicated service to the City of Akron and his continued efforts in bringing global business to the region.
Money raised from this event will be to support Greater Akron's efforts to attract foreign investment. Checks can be made payable to the Greater Akron Chamber Foundation and sent to the Greater Akron Chamber at 388 S. Main St, Ste. 205, Akron 44311.

Don Plusquellic's Legacy of Leadership Accomplishments
  • Akron’s longest-serving mayor. (28 years).
  • Akron aggressively pursued economic development initiatives resulting in 24 foreign companies settling in the community, employing more than 500 people.
  • For three consecutive years, Expansion Management Magazine ranked Akron among the top 15 metros in the nation for European investment.
  • Akron became the only city in Ohio to use an income tax to fund the unprecedented partnership to rebuild city schools as community learning centers.
  • Led the initiative to retain 3,000 jobs at Goodyear and 1,000 jobs at Bridgestone with new construction investments of more than $500 million.
  • Ohio adopted legislation to enable Akron and cities statewide to create Joint Economic Development Districts.
  • Akron was selected twice to be an “All-America City.”
  • Construction of the Ohio Erie Canal Towpath was complete, connecting downtown with the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
  • Shepherded a billion dollars in downtown construction including Canal Park, the John S. Knight Center, Inventors Hall of Fame and the downtown Akron Public Library.
