Job Summary

This role is an essential position in the Member Services Department. The Manager will be responsible for producing quality member programs and events from conception to completion that benefit and are of value to chamber members and the community. In addition to providing general support for the chamber’s broad portfolio of programs and events, this position will also have specific ownership of KNOW (Knowledgeable Network of Women) and YPN (Young Professionals Network).

Job Description

Key Areas of Responsibility will include but are not limited to:

Event Management

  • Oversee all elements of chamber events from start to finish including script writing, venue coordination, selecting and scheduling speakers, staffing and all other event tasks as needed. Support process for obtaining and fulfilling sponsorship products.
  • Work closely with the Manager of Communications/Publications on a marketing plan for each event.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors to ensure the best value.
  • Publish and manage each event on the Greater Akron Chamber website and in Weblink (CMR Software).
  • Create and adhere to event budgets.

Program Coordination

  • Plan and execute events valuable to each respective program.
  • Create and send out monthly emails to each program membership.
  • Work with Sr. Manager of Finance to collect overdue program fees.
  • Monitor and post to program social media accounts.

Volunteer Supervision

  • Coordinate and attend volunteer committee meetings and provide direct support to program volunteer leadership.

General Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ongoing data management in chamber CRM system related to events, programs and supporting committee and volunteer participation.
  • Supports other projects and initiatives within the GAC as required.
  • Represents the chamber in the community and on chamber and community initiatives as requested.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • 2-5 years of experience in event management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and organization with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Microsoft Outlook and core social media platforms including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management software and related tools.
  • Knowledge of Email Marketing Software and Web Content Management Systems.
