Chamber Presents The Morning Buzz on September 14 Featuring Mark Birtha

8/27/2018
Greater Akron—The Morning Buzz is a monthly speaker breakfast series, which aims to connect small- and medium-sized businesses by facilitating the exchange of ideas and strategies for business growth and success.  On Friday, September 14, 2018, join us to hear Mark Birtha, President of the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park, present “Success and Challenges: Hard Rock Rocksino.”

An executive with the iconic brand, Birtha is responsible for operations of Northeast Ohio’s premier gaming, dining, and entertainment destination and its team members.  A highly regarded gaming and hospitality executive with over 23 years of experience, Birtha’s career has spanned both operations and development at the leading casino and hotel companies including Mirage Resorts, Las Vegas Sands, Marriott International and Starwood.  Birtha graduated from The Hotel School at Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and as a Merrill Presidential Scholar.

In 2006, he was recognized as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” business executives in Las Vegas by In Business Las Vegas Magazine.  He is a Cornell University Council member and he sits on the advisory boards of The Cornell Hotel School, G2E, Global Gaming Business Magazine, and more.

More recently, Birtha was recognized as one of the “Faces of Cleveland 2016”.  Birtha has overseen the Rocksino’s multiple expansions and operations successes, which includes being heralded as a Silver Spoon Dining Award Recipient and Best Regional Gaming Property, and the first and only entertainment gaming company recognized three times as a TOP 100 WORK PLACE by The Cleveland Plain Dealer in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Under his leadership, the Rocksino was honored with several prestigious Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR) awards and recognized for exemplary corporate support to veterans, reservists, and the community through projects and programs that provide extraordinary assistance to military personnel and their families and the community.

Since opening in December 2013, the Rocksino has supported the local community with over 3 million in charitable donations.  PINKTOBER is the highlight of the year, as both Birtha and the Rocksino focus on supporting breast cancer prevention and have partnered with Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio to achieve this noble pursuit.  Over the past three years, the Rocksino’s commitment and efforts resulted in a donation to Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio of $250,000 to support their research and awareness efforts.

Market St., Akron, Ohio 44305.  Business connections, registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m., and the program will be held from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. The cost is $25 for members, $50 for non-members and includes a breakfast buffet.
