Chamber Presents The Morning Buzz on June 8 Featuring Ian Schwarber

5/11/2018
Greater Akron—The Morning Buzz is a monthly speaker breakfast series, which aims to connect small- and medium-sized businesses by facilitating the exchange of ideas and strategies for business growth and success.  On Friday, June 8, 2018, join us to hear Ian Schwarber, Chief Strategy Officer for DriveIT.

DriveIT is an Akron-based startup which recently launched its inaugural location in Akron, Ohio.  This innovative company will redefine the Information Technology skills training landscape.  The most effective training requires hands-on immersion, social interaction with mentors and peers, and verification of competency. In contrast to other platforms and services which are missing one or more of these features, DriveIT will be offering “Gyms for the Brain,” meant to improve the fitness of the IT workforce on a year-round basis, for less than the cost of sending an employee to a conference, or providing traditional consultant-based custom IT training.

In March 2016, Schwarber co-founded the EX[L] Center for Entrepreneurship and Civic Engagement at The University of Akron, named to “Top 50 Innovation Centers in U.S.” by President Obama on June 17, 2016.  Schwarber founded his own innovation consulting practice, ALTITUDE Strategy, advised a number of successful startups, founded non-profit organizations and held leadership roles in various political campaigns, grassroots movements and community projects.

The Morning Buzz will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Akron, 1307 E. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44305.  Business connections, registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m., and the program will be held from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. The cost is $25 for members, $50 for non-members and includes a breakfast buffet. To make a reservation, call the Greater Akron Chamber at (330) 376-5550 or register on-line at www.greaterakronchamber.org.
